Community Impact

Our Hometown

Meadville is a great place to raise a family in a safe community with low cost of living. It’s suburban living without the hassles of a big city. Noted for outdoor recreation, residents experience the beauty of all four seasons in their own back yard. The Crawford County Convention and Visitors Bureau is a great resource for major attractions and events in the Meadville area and surrounding towns.

Community Impact

The Meadville Medical Center Health System is not only the community’s independent health system, it is a community partner, a community resource, and a committed driver of economic vibrancy. The health system currently employs 2,000 individuals with an overall payroll of nearly $150 million.

In 2020, the health system made a regional economic impact of well over $500 million and provided much needed financial support of local business throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a community partner, the health system supports countless nonprofits, civic groups, community initiatives and is significant resource for creating and maintaining a robust infrastructure to enhance healthy lifestyles in Crawford County. High quality, affordable healthcare is the primary focus of the health system. In doing so, while winning awards for quality and care, the health system continues to be a low cost provider in the region, while also providing more than $10 million each year in free care whether through unpaid bills or community benefit.

The Culture

At Meadville Medical Center we are MORE than a hospital! Remarkable people producing remarkable healthcare! We are a community of like-minded individuals who not only care for patients, but we care for each other. We are a community of neighbors who check on each other, as much as we check on those we care for. We understand that, as a community, we can fulfil our mission of delivering high-quality and affordable health in the most innovative manner necessary.
