Current Openings for Advanced Practice Providers

Family Medicine

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct patient office visits
  • Assists physicians with procedures as appropriate, and follows physician direction
  • Assists in triaging patients
  • Prescribes and monitors medications

 

Minimum knowledge and skills include:

  • Professional knowledge of mid-level clinician theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of an accredited School of Mid-Level Clinicians. Specialty units may be additional requirements according to their policy.
  • Two years clinical experience preferred
  • Current State Mid-Level Clinician License or having made application for licensure.
  • Communication skills necessary to effectively provide instruction to the patient and/or significant other, and explain physician assistant intervention
  • Communicates with other members of the health team
  • ACLS and BLS required

Hematology/Oncology

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Patient Visits and Assessments

  • Performs comprehensive patient evaluations.
  • Obtains and documents complete medical histories, physical examinations, treatment responses, and symptom assessments.
  • Develops and implements evidence-based plans of care in collaboration with supervising physicians.

 

Manages Hematology and Oncology Patients

  • Evaluates and manages patients with hematologic and oncologic diagnoses throughout the continuum of care.
  • Monitors disease progression, treatment effectiveness, laboratory results, imaging studies, and adverse effects.
  • Identifies and addresses treatment-related toxicities and complications in accordance with established protocols.
  • Collaborates with physicians regarding complex clinical issues and treatment modifications.

 

Orders, Prescribes, and Monitors Therapies

  • Orders and interprets diagnostic tests, laboratory studies, and imaging as clinically indicated.
  • Prescribes medications and supportive care interventions in accordance with state regulations, institutional policies, and collaborative practice agreements.
  • Monitors patient response to chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive medications.
  • Provides symptom management for pain, nausea, fatigue, anemia, infection risk, and other cancer-related concerns.

 

Provides Patient and Family Education

  • Educates patients and caregivers regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, potential side effects, symptom management, and survivorship care.
  • Reinforces treatment adherence and promotes informed decision-making.
  • Assesses patient understanding and identifies barriers to care.


Assists with Patient Triage and Acute Care Needs

  • Participates in the assessment and triage of patient concerns, treatment-related symptoms, and urgent clinical issues.
  • Determines appropriate interventions and level of care, including outpatient management, emergency evaluation, or hospitalization when necessary.
  • Supports efficient clinic operations while maintaining high standards of patient safety and quality care.

Pain Management

This position is with the Clinic for Specialty Pain Services at Meadville Medical Center with Dr. Anthony Colantonio, board-certified anesthesiologist and fellowship trained pain management physician in his 23rd year of practice at the clinic.

Patient population is comprised mostly of patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain, the majority of which involves spinal pathology. Other conditions treated include chronic neuropathic pain.

Treatment modalities are focused primarily upon non-surgical management of pain including:

  • Fluoroscopic and ultrasound guided injections by Dr. Colantonio
  • Non-opioid medications
  • Controlled medications (Management of controlled medications will be for established patients in the practice as the practice is closed to new patients requiring opioid prescriptions)
  • The scope of the practice is expanding to offer regenerative treatments including prolotherapy and platelet rich plasma.

 

The APP is expected to:

  • Conduct new and follow up office visits consisting of detailed musculoskeletal and neuro exam
  • Order diagnostic imaging
  • Make referrals when necessary
  • Triage and return phone calls from patients
  • Submit electronic prescriptions and review the prescription drug monitoring program when applicable

 

The practice is an outpatient clinic with appointments scheduled Monday – Friday with no weekend hours required in the clinic. 

Call is once a week and one weekend per month (calls for referrals taken with patient seen while admitted within 24 hours of the consult)

Opportunity for APP to accompany Dr. Colantonio to the operating room for spinal cord stimulator implant surgeries.

Primary Care Services / Rural Health Clinics

APP Provider needed for family practice float coverage.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Establishes preliminary diagnoses of physical abnormalities under the direction of the supervising physician as per guidelines.
  • Recommends for further testing and examinations to appropriate cooperating services, (i.e., hospitals, clinical laboratories, radiological services, and other technical or specialized services.
  • Provides preventative services such as, weight loss/diet modification, smoking cessation counseling, etc.
  • Maintains and documents complete medical records and completes patient reports as required.
  • Participates in the development of written standing orders and/or protocols to be used by the Physician Extender as appropriate.
  • Prescription refills are completed per Collaborative Agreement with supervising physician.
  • Daily lab and hospital reports are reviewed with supervising physician and addressed as appropriate.
  • Acceptance of other duties and special assignments as may be designated by the Medical Director.

Urology

The APP will see patients in the office that are referred for medical management. Medical management would include reviewing patients past medical history, family history, social history, history of present illness, reviewing patient symptoms, Interstim management, foley placements, assessment/medical examination and plan for continued care of the patient, scheduling patients for further urologic procedures, testing, and surgeries. The APP will review test results with the patient and also provide counseling and coordination of their care. The APP will also follow patients within the hospital as consulted, document, place orders and order testing as appropriate.


Other duties include but are not limited to:

Cardiologist (non-invasive)

Family Medicine Physicians

Meadville Medical Center seeks BE/BC family medicine physicians for full and part-time openings. Positions are outpatient only with very limited outpatient phone calls only. Hospitalist service covers all inpatient needs. Offices are staffed with APPs as well. Practices are busy and growing, so physician can expect to ramp up quickly.

Pediatrician

Meadville Pediatrics has an opportunity for a compassionate BE/BC PEDIATRICIAN to join our team. You’ll experience a team-oriented work environment with experienced colleagues. It’s an excellent opportunity to work with experienced, well-respected physicians who are the sole community provider. You’ll have a four-day work week with a 1:5 call schedule.

Our current opportunity does allow the physician to be both in the hospital and clinic. The six bed pediatric unit is available for routine pediatric census with most stays averaging 2-3 days. The larger, newly renovated pediatric office is located in the medical arts building attached to the hospital, allowing space for sick visits to be vetted and separated from routine/wellness exams!

Psychiatrist

Meadville Medical Center is currently recruiting a BC/BE Adult Psychiatrist to join its dynamic, established team of psychiatrists.

The position requires 70/30 inpatient and outpatient work, with occasional consultation liaison opportunities.

The inpatient mental health facility currently has twenty beds with an opportunity of expansion to include eight additional beds. The staff is productive and easy to get along with, providing a comfortable, progressive atmosphere for the physician.

Call will be 1:5 with weekday calls being phone only, weekends involve rounding.
